3. A balanced option for both adults and larvae includes 40% wheat bran, 40% corn bran, 20% soybean cake, 1% multivitamin, and 1.5% mixed salt. This formula supports growth at different life stages.
4. For breeding adults, a special mix can be used: 80% low-quality wheat flour or malt powder (including bran), 15% sugar, 0.2% royal jelly, 0.4% vitamin, and 2.4% mixed salt. This formula enhances reproductive performance and overall health.
5. In winter, feeding with wheat bran alone is sufficient, or you can add some corn flour to improve nutritional value and maintain activity levels.
6. Agricultural by-products such as wood chips, wheat straw, corn stalks, leaves, and other high-cellulose materials can be fed after fermentation. This not only reduces waste but also provides a sustainable food source for Tenebrio.
Second, feed processing:
1. Combine various ingredients and additives thoroughly. Add 10% water to the mixture—complex vitamins and mixed salt can be dissolved in the water first. Stir well, then dry the mixture before use. This ensures even distribution of nutrients.
2. If possible, process the feed into expanded particles. Small larvae require particles smaller than 0.5 mm, while larger larvae and adults need particles between 1–5 mm. The texture should be soft enough for young larvae to consume easily, while still being firm enough for adults. Adjusting particle size and hardness improves feeding efficiency and digestion.
This detailed approach ensures that Tenebrio has a well-balanced diet throughout its life cycle, supporting growth, reproduction, and overall vitality.
