Lawn trimming machine specification operating points

Mowing is one of the most essential practices in turf management. Its main goal is to maintain a neat, attractive lawn and ensure that the grass functions effectively. By mowing, the grass receives moderate stimulation, which helps control its vertical growth and encourages denser growth of shoots and tillers. This process also enhances air circulation and light penetration within the grass layer, promoting healthier and more vigorous lawn growth. Proper operation of the mowing equipment is crucial for achieving high-quality results and is key to extending the lifespan of the machine while reducing overall maintenance costs in green spaces. 1. Lawn mowers should undergo regular inspections and be operated strictly according to the manufacturer’s guidelines to prevent injuries and mechanical damage caused by improper use. Before each session, always check the fuel and lubricant levels. If they are low, refuel promptly to avoid engine damage due to insufficient lubrication. 2. During operation, monitor the performance of moving and transmission parts. Ensure that all clearances are within normal limits and make adjustments if necessary. Check the tightness of all fasteners and reinforce them if they become loose. Listen carefully for any unusual noises and address the issue promptly. Simple fixes such as adjustments or lubrication should be done immediately, and major repairs like disassembling the machine should be avoided unless absolutely necessary, to prevent unnecessary costs and disruptions in maintenance. 3. Regular maintenance is vital for optimal performance. As the saying goes, "Three parts repair, seven parts maintenance." Always follow the manufacturer’s specifications regarding fuel and lubricants, including the correct grade and mixing ratios (especially for two-stroke engines). For example, B&S engines require SAE 40 engine oil, and the first oil change should be after 5 hours of operation. After the running-in period, change the oil every 50 hours. Use gasoline with an octane rating of 93 or higher, or unleaded fuel. 4. Determine the appropriate cutting height and amount based on the lawn's condition and the mower’s capabilities. Keep the mowing cycle as short as possible and cut only a small portion of the grass at a time. Mow under low load conditions, and if the grass is too long, trim it in stages following the 1/3 rule to avoid stressing the plants. 5. Avoid mowing when the grass is wet, such as after irrigation, rain, or heavy dew. Wet grass can lead to clumping and slippage, which not only affects the quality of the cut but also increases wear on the machine. 6. The mower blade must be sharp, flat, and undamaged. A dull blade can negatively impact the appearance of the lawn and create favorable conditions for disease. Before cutting, ensure that the blade tips are aligned evenly. An uneven blade will result in an uneven cut and may damage the machine over time. A well-maintained blade ensures proper airflow through the deck, allowing the blades to stay upright and making the cut clean, fast, and efficient. It also helps direct clippings into the collection bag. 7. Control the walking speed of the mower so that it matches the cutter head’s ability to effectively cut and collect grass. Too fast a pace reduces the quality of the cut and can cause mechanical stress, shorten the machine’s life, and even lead to safety issues. (Li Yisheng)
