4. For breeding adults, a special mix includes 80% poor-quality wheat flour or malt powder (with bran), 15% sugar, 0.2% royal jelly, 0.4% vitamin, and 2.4% mixed salt. This is particularly effective in improving breeding performance.
5. In winter, feeding with pure wheat bran alone is sufficient, or you can add a small amount of corn flour to enhance nutritional value.
6. Agricultural by-products such as wood chips, wheat straw, corn stalks, and leaves can be used after fermentation. These high-cellulose materials are suitable for feeding Tenebrio and help reduce feed costs.
Second, feed processing:
1. Combine all ingredients and additives thoroughly. Add 10% water—complex vitamins and mixed salt can be dissolved in the water first. Mix well and then dry the mixture before using it.
2. For those with the proper equipment, the feed can be processed into expanded particles. Small larvae require particles no larger than 0.5 mm, while larger larvae and adults need 1–5 mm particles. The texture should also match the feeding habits of each stage, especially making the feed softer for young larvae to ensure easy consumption.
