Lambs have the characteristics of rapid weight gain, high feed remuneration, low product cost, short production cycle, and high economic benefits. Therefore, lamb fattening and production has developed rapidly in recent years. Lamb fattening is a very technical job. In practice, strict implementation of various technical measures is required. Because of the different weaning weights of lambs, the fattening techniques adopted by the lambs differed. The fattening technique measures for different weaning weight lambs are as follows.
1. Preparation of Lambs before Fattening In order to obtain the ideal fattening effect, all preparatory work before fattening must be done. Before weaning lambs fattening should do the following aspects.
(1) Do a good job of feeding and management of lambs during lactation. At the age of 7-10 days, the lambs start to be tempted and 15-20 days old to supplement feeds. The feeds can be easily digested and diversified, promote the development of the forequarters, use plant feeds as soon as possible, increase the source of nutrition, and nurture birth. Long-developed, healthy lambs lay a good foundation for fattening.
