To prevent this, it's important to maintain well-drained soil with a lower pH. A strong root system can significantly reduce the risk of iron deficiency. Based on the plant’s sensitivity, chelated iron should be applied before planting if the soil pH exceeds 6.5. A second application can be made after planting, depending on the plant’s color. If the yellowing persists, a third application can be done approximately two weeks later. The dosage of chelated iron depends on the soil pH and timing of application. Applying too much may lead to dark spots on the leaves. Before planting, 2 to 3 grams per square meter is recommended, applied evenly across the soil. After planting, the maximum dose should not exceed 2 grams per square meter. Chelated iron can be delivered through an irrigation system or mixed with dry sand and spread over the area. To avoid leaf burn, it's best to apply chelated iron in the evening when the weather is cool and the crop is moist. Always rinse the plants thoroughly after application. When using new cultivars, it's advisable to perform a small-scale test first to ensure compatibility. In addition, nitrogen deficiency can cause lighter green leaves. Low nitrogen levels may result in weaker stems, fewer flower buds, and rapid yellowing of leaves after transplanting. To address this, it's best to apply nitrogen fertilizer based on soil analysis results. If nitrogen deficiency is confirmed, use a readily available form of nitrogen. Be careful with fertilizer applications and always ensure the crop is fully rinsed afterward to avoid damage.
