First, it’s essential to choose the right premix based on the type of livestock or poultry and their growth stage. Different species and developmental phases require specific nutrient ratios. Always ensure that energy feed is accurately measured and thoroughly mixed to maintain consistency. Second, when switching from one premix to another, do so gradually. A sudden change can cause digestive upset and negatively impact animal performance. It’s best to slowly increase the new premix while decreasing the old one over a period of about a week, allowing the animals to adjust smoothly. Third, always follow the recommended feeding formulas. Many farmers tend to rely on personal experience rather than the guidelines provided, which can lead to imbalanced nutrition and poor growth outcomes. Fourth, never use premix directly or mix it with boiling water. High heat can destroy vital nutrients, reducing its effectiveness. Always add it to cool or room-temperature feed. Fifth, avoid mixing different types of premixes together. Doing so may interfere with the intended balance of nutrients and reduce overall efficacy. Lastly, store premix properly to maintain quality. Premixes should not be kept for too long—ideally no more than three days in summer and up to six days in other seasons. Keep them in a cool, dry, and dark place to prevent moisture damage and degradation.
