CT diagnosis of abdominal lymph nodes in 52 patients with lymphoma

Release date: 2007-05-31

CT diagnosis of abdominal lymph nodes in 52 patients with lymphoma was performed to evaluate the CT findings of the abdominal lymph nodes (LALN) in patients with lymphoma and its diagnostic value. The investigators retrospectively analyzed the CT findings of 52 patients who had undergone surgery or biopsy to confirm LALN, including 16 For example, Hodgkin's disease (HD) and 36 cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). The results showed that CT findings were based on the distribution of LALN lesions: 10 patients had a separate mass type, including 3 patients with single, round, uniform density, and swollen lymph nodes; and 7 patients with multiple, lymphadenopathy fused to separate Leaflet lumps. In 34 patients, multiple lobular types showed multiple, round, swollen lymph nodes with uniform density and clear edges. Six patients had signs of vascular embolization including mesenteric vessels, renal vessels, abdominal aorta or inferior vena cava, and 2 patients had signs of duodenal embedding. Eight patients with diffuse type developed characteristic cobblestone signs. (2) CT findings were associated with pathological types: CT findings in 12 patients with HD were different from those in 40 patients with NHL in terms of distribution, size, number of lymph nodes, and fusion regions. (3) Of the 52 patients, 28 were associated with extranodal lymphoma, especially gastrointestinal lymph nodes with characteristic CT findings. (4) Follow-up examination showed that the CT images of 15 patients showed uniform, heterogeneous or marginal enhancement. In 12 patients, occasional calcification was accompanied by a decrease in the size and number of lesions, and in 3 patients, the lesions disappeared after treatment. Therefore, CT images show characteristic features for qualitative diagnosis of LALN, which contributes to the pathological classification of LALN and the therapeutic evaluation of follow-up patients.
