Field Management of Non-pollution Leaf Lettuce

After planting, it usually takes 5 to 6 days for the seedlings to establish and survive. Once the lettuce is transplanted, it’s important to provide a light top-dressing of water to help it settle in. For one-week-old seedlings, you can apply a small amount of fertilizer specifically for cabbage lettuce. Once the seedlings are well established, proper water and nutrient management should be maintained. For every 667 square meters, you can dissolve 10 kg of urea in water and apply it. Keep the soil consistently moist, but stop applying nitrogen-based fertilizers at least 30 days before harvest to avoid excessive nitrate buildup in the leaves. Additionally, during the early stages of leaf curling, it's recommended to spray the plants with a 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution. This helps improve plant resilience and overall growth. Lettuce is sensitive to high temperatures and humidity. When temperatures exceed 25°C, ensure proper ventilation, cooling, or shading to prevent heat stress. It's also vulnerable to pests like leeches, so make sure there's no standing water in the pots or trays. After rainy days, drain any excess water immediately. Following heavy summer rains, it's essential to break up the soil in the garden to maintain good drainage and prevent waterlogging. The stems and leaves of the native vine are tender and juicy. While working in the field, take care not to damage them or the root system, as this can increase the risk of disease. In hot and humid conditions, if there's no dew on the leaves, remove yellow, old, or damaged leaves near the ground to reduce the chances of infection. Proper maintenance during these periods can significantly improve the health and yield of your lettuce crop.
