The preferred 6 method for meat breeders

Choosing good breeder pigeons is the key to reducing the cost of raising and raising the speed and economic efficiency of the meat pigeons. Therefore, to raise meat pigeons, you must first select the meat breeders. When purchasing meat breeders, pay attention to the following six aspects:

First, choose good breeds. Breeding good breeder pigeons is an important factor in obtaining high efficiency of meat pigeon breeding. At present, the best breeds of pigeons are American king pigeons, Chinese stone dove pigeons and Belgian haem pigeons, and Hong Kong hybrid king pigeons. These pigeons have strong resistance to disease and fast growth and are ideal pigeon breeds.

Second, choose weight. In Hong Kong, Macao, and foreign markets and some domestic big hotels, 4 weeks old pigeons are required to weigh more than 600 grams. Therefore, when purchasing a breeding pigeon, there should be a certain requirement for its weight. The cock is required to have a body weight of 650 grams or more and a breeding hen of 550 grams or more. This way, the breeding pigeons can meet export and market requirements.

Third, choose the body type. The shape of the pigeons used for meat breeding is preferably of a ball type. The weight of the pigeons is larger. The chest should be round, the back should be wide, and the legs should be short; the docile temperament is good, and it is more appropriate to fly high and be happy.

Fourth, choose the coat color. White carcasses with white feathers are preferred, with white or light yellow skin, and are popular with consumers; followed by grey, red and yellow. The feathers are dark or variegated, and their carcass skin is often bluish-purple, and people do not like it. Therefore, it is advisable to use the same color for the selection of meat breeder and matching.

Fifth, choose the male and female. The pigeons breed in pairs, one male and one female, and they are fixed and paired. When purchasing a breeder, there will be more males and fewer males, so you cannot buy large breeders. If you want to buy 100 pairs of breeding pigeons, you can buy 60 pairs of -80 pairs first, until the 6 months of age matching, and then choose to add according to the actual situation.

Six, choose performance. When buying a breeder, you should look at the parent's weight, body size, coat color, and breeding records. This is closely related to genetic performance. General male and female breeding pigeons are of good quality and production performance, and their relatives are also relatively good. Therefore, during the self-reproduction period, it is necessary to retain the breeding progeny of breeding pigeons with good production performance in order to improve the quality of meat pigeons.
